Association of Sewing and Design Professionals (ASDP)

Our mission statement: Empowering sewing and design professionals to succeed in business. Our vision statement: The global leader in advancing professional standards in the sewing and design industry. You will discover that our association and community of sewing professionals are like no other group. ASDP offers a wealth of information and resources all in one place for education, networking, and referrals. The Association of Sewing and Design Professionals (formerly known as the Professional Association of Custom Clothiers, PACC) has approximately 400 members across the United States and Canada. We also have 12 local chapters that regularly meet for enriching activities and opportunities. Our mission is to support individuals engaged in sewing and design related businesses, in both commercial and home-based settings. Our members are involved in professional sewing in a variety of garment sewing specialties beyond what is usually thought of as seamstress, dressmaker, or tailoring work: including custom clothing, formal and bridal wear, design, pattern making, tailoring and alterations, accessories, costumes, wearable art, image consulting, production sewing, teaching and other industry-related avenues. Among our ranks are many published authors and instructors who are well-recognized and respected in the industry. We encourage and support students in fashion design by holding a design challenge in the host city of our annual National Educational Conference and encouraging their attendance. The conference features high-caliber instruction in sewing techniques, fitting, creative design, business practices, and other aspects of professional sewing and design. Our Master Certification Program is open to non-members as well as members of the Association. The MSDP (Master Sewing and Design Professional) certificate is a program made up of seven modules: Design, Fabrics, Fit, Fashion Illustration, Garment Construction, Pattern Development, and Professional Practices
