Tara Mohamed Lcsw

Tara Mohamed, LCSW, has a diverse range of experience in the field of social work. Tara began their career as a Clerical Assistant with the Department of Human Services, where they played a significant role in the initiation of the "Homeless No More" program. Tara then worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Maryland, where they focused on studying teenage smokers and their behavior.

Tara interned at The Children's Village, where they provided individual and family therapy and assisted in creating permanency discharge resources for the youth. Tara also interned at the Westchester Institute for Human Development, working with children and families using trauma-focused therapies.

At Four Winds Hospital, Tara served as a Mental Health Worker in an adolescent unit, providing therapy, coping skills, and crisis intervention. Tara then joined the Association to Benefit Children (ABC), where they initially worked as a Preventive Social Worker, providing services and therapy to families. Tara later took on the role of Therapist and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant, conducting intake sessions and providing trauma-based interventions to children. Tara also served as a Psychiatric Social Worker, responding to crisis calls and conducting mental health assessments.

Currently, Tara is working at ABC as the Director of School-Based Mental Health, overseeing programs and supervising clinicians. Tara also serves as the Program Coordinator for the School Response Team, participating in school and city-wide meetings and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Throughout their career, Tara has demonstrated a commitment to providing quality mental health services and support to children and families.

Tara Mohamed, LCSW completed their education history with a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from Hunter College, which they obtained between the years 2012 and 2014. Prior to that, they received a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Maryland, from 2006 to 2010.

In addition to their academic achievements, Tara Mohamed holds additional certifications. In May 2014, they completed the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and related Disabilities Program at the Westchester Institute For Human Development. Furthermore, in September 2013, they obtained a Certificate in Child and Adolescent Trauma Training from the National Center for Social Work Trauma Education and Workforce Development.
