Bert Plessers has extensive experience in the mental health sector and public administration. Currently serving as Algemeen directeur at Asster vzw since August 2015, Bert previously held the roles of Adjunct-algemeen directeur and Stafmedewerker algemeen directeur. Bert was seconded to FOD Volksgezondheid from 2015 to 2016 and to the cabinet of Jo Vandeurzen, the Flemish Minister of Health, Welfare, and Family from 2016 to 2019. Bert worked as Kabinetsmedewerker for the Flemish Minister, contributing to mental health initiatives. Prior experience includes serving as Adjunct-coördinator at FOD Volksgezondheid with a focus on child and youth mental health policy, and as a lecturer at Thomas More University of Applied Sciences in social work. Bert’s career began at SPIL Overlegplatform Geestelijke Gezondheid, where responsibilities included developing care circuits for various patient demographics. Education includes a Master's in Political Science and an Academic Teaching Degree from Vrije Universiteit Brussel, as well as a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from Thomas More University.
