Joshua Birkebak

Joshua Birkebak, Ph.D., is the Technical Director at Assured Bio Labs and has previously held the roles of Laboratory Manager and Quality Assurance Officer. He has over ten years of laboratory experience in microbiology especially in the fields of fungal, bacterial, and viral molecular detection and diagnostics using PCR and qPCR. Dr. Birkebak has developed a wealth of experience and knowledge in environmental microbiological investigations and experiments from sampling and experimental design, sample processing, and analysis, all the way through interpretation and application of findings. Other fields of expertise include product testing experimental design and analysis, taxonomic and systematic mycology, quality assurance system implementation and laboratory accreditation, development and implementation of laboratory information management systems, among others. He earned a B.S. in Biology from the University of Washington in 2009 and his Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee in 2015.
