DMU Mechanical Engineering Lead at AST SpaceMobile

Heather Pomerene has a diverse work experience spanning various engineering roles. Heather is currently the DMU Mechanical Engineering Lead at AST SpaceMobile since 2022. Heather also owns and operates Pomerene Photography as a natural light photographer specializing in family portraits since 2013. Prior to that, they worked at Northrop Grumman as a Staff Mechanical Engineer and later as a Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer. Heather contributed to the SiAW missile program and led the integrated product team for the Airframe sub-section. Heather also worked at Orbital ATK as a Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer, where they led the overall satellite design on several programs and implemented a true PLM environment. At Orbital Sciences Corporation, they served as Senior Engineer, Payload Design Group Supervisor, and Engineer, leading spacecraft level design and suggesting improvements. Heather started their career as an Engineering Intern at BAE Systems.

Heather Pomerene has a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering/Motorsports from Old Dominion University. Heather also attended The George Washington University - School of Engineering & Applied Science, where they focused on Engineering Management & Systems Engineering. Additionally, Heather has obtained various certifications, including Process Improvement Foundations, Agile Foundations, Scrum: The Basics, Windchill Certified, Business Acumen for Project Managers, Lean Six Sigma Foundations, Six Sigma Foundations, and Following the Digital Thread.
