Don Mather

Don Mather currently serves as Senior Vice President and Division Head of Global BioPharma Manufacturing at Astellas Pharma, a position held since March 2023. In this role, Mather oversees the stable supply of clinical and commercial biotherapeutics across Astellas' manufacturing sites in the US and Japan, focusing on modalities such as Cell Therapy, Gene Therapy, and mAb's/ADC's. Prior to this, Mather was Executive Director and Manufacturing & Operations Site Head at Astellas Gene Therapies from May 2020 to March 2023, where responsibilities included leading GMP operations in Sanford, North Carolina. Mather's experience also includes significant roles at Grifols as Validation Director and Director of Manufacturing, along with leadership positions at ImaRx Therapeutics and Human Genome Sciences. Mather earned a BS in Biochemistry from the University of Washington, an MS in Biotechnology from The Johns Hopkins University, and completed PhD coursework in Biochemistry at the University of Maryland.
