Brian Lentes has a diverse work experience in various roles and organizations. Brian is currently serving as the Senior Director of Public Health Infrastructure at the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials. Prior to this, they held positions at the PENNSYLVANIA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, including Director of the Office of Operational Excellence, Acting Deputy Secretary for Health Innovation, and Director of the Bureau of Health Planning. Brian also worked as a Manager of Quality and Patient Safety Outcomes at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. Earlier in their career, they served as a Health Information Technology Policy and Audit Contractor at Liberty Healthcare Corporation and as a Senior Consultant at the Pennsylvania Office of Administration. Brian started their career as an Economic Development Analyst at the Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development.
Brian Lentes has a Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.) degree from Penn State University, obtained from 2007 to 2010. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Arts in Communications and History at Albright College from 2001 to 2005. Additionally, Brian has obtained several certifications, including a Graduate Certificate in Organization Development and Change Operational Excellence from Penn State University in 2021, and a Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification from the Pennsylvania Air National Guard in 2020. Brian has also obtained various other certifications related to Lean Six Sigma and public budgeting and financial management. In 2023, Brian became a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

ASTHO is the national nonprofit organization representing public health agencies in the United States, the U.S. Territories, and the District of Columbia, and over 100,000 public health professionals these agencies employ. ASTHO members, the chief health officials of these jurisdictions, formulate and influence sound public health policy and ensure excellence in state-based public health practice. ASTHO's primary function is to track, evaluate, and advise members on the impact and formation of public or private health policy which may affect them and to provide them with guidance and technical assistance on improving the nation's health.
