Ian Whelan

Ian Whelan is an experienced automotive engineering professional currently serving as the Head of Mechanical Development Testing at Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd since April 2018. Previously, Ian held the title of Senior Manager of Advanced Powertrain Concepts. Between March 2012 and March 2018, Ian was a GT Engines Development Engineer at Ferrari, where responsibilities included high-performance engine calibration and developing methodologies to comply with emissions legislation, contributing to projects such as the V12 engines for LaFerrari and the limited edition FXX K. Ian's academic background includes a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from University College Dublin, where research focused on particulate matter in gasoline direct injection engines, and an MSc in Racing Engine Design from Oxford Brookes University. Ian also holds a BE in Mechanical Engineering from University College Dublin.
