Bharat Patel

Bharat Patel is an experienced executive in the biotechnology industry, currently serving as the Executive Director and Head of Process Engineering at AstraZeneca since August 2025. Previously, Bharat held the position of AVP and Head of Process Development at Rocket Pharmaceuticals, leading viral vector process development and overseeing significant projects related to AAV and Lentivirus programs. Bharat's extensive background includes roles at Merck, where Bharat served as Director and Principal Scientist in Biologics Process Development, and at Bristol Myers Squibb as a Scientist focused on Fc-fusion and mAb protein manufacturing. Earlier roles include positions at Pentair and Cadila Pharmaceuticals Limited. Bharat earned a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Clemson University, an MS from Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg, and a BS from the National Institute of Technology Surat.
