Ian Barrett

Ian Barrett is a Senior Director in Data Sciences & Quantitative Biology at AstraZeneca, where they currently lead teams focused on bioinformatics, data science, and machine learning applied to multi-omics and predictive models. They have a deep and diverse background in data science, having previously held various roles at AstraZeneca, including Associate Director and Senior Bioinformatics Scientist. Ian earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Human/Medical Genetics from the University of Cambridge and conducted research at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, investigating the genetics of the human X chromosome. With a strong ability to translate business questions into effective data science solutions, Ian has made significant contributions to R&D strategy and has built a network of academic collaborations.
