Richard Yee

Richard Yee has extensive work experience in the field of information technology and banking. Richard is currently serving as the Head of Information Technology at ASTRI - Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute. Prior to this, they worked as an Adjunct Professor at Hong Kong Baptist University, where they published academic papers on topics related to digital enterprise banking and innovation management.

Richard also has a long history of working at HSBC, where they held various roles and responsibilities. Richard served as a Programme Director, driving innovative initiatives in the Greater Bay Area using the latest technologies and Agile/DevOps methodologies. Richard also served as the Head of Infrastructure Transformation and Greater Bay Area IT at Hang Seng Bank, where they developed strategies and set up IT infrastructure to enable remote work and ensure smooth digital services during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Additionally, Richard worked as the Chief Information Officer at HSBC China, where they defined IT strategies and implemented innovative projects to support business growth in the Chinese market. Richard also led the global IT team as the Global Head of Wealth Management Engineering and Global Head of Wealth Management Deployment, overseeing the implementation of the Global Wealth Platform in strategic markets worldwide.

Earlier in their career, Richard played a pivotal role in implementing digital banking platforms for HSBC, including the first generation of Public Website, Personal Internet Banking, and Business Internet Banking. Richard also worked on payment systems development as an IT Officer and System Analyst/Programmer.

In addition, Richard has a Master of Business Administration (Distinction) degree with specialization in IT Management from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Richard obtained a Bachelor of Arts (First Class Honours) in Computing Studies from the same institution. Prior to their higher education, Richard attended St. Paul's Co-educational College from Form 1 to 7. Furthermore, they have obtained certifications in Cybersecurity for Executives and IT and Cybersecurity Risk Management Essential Training from LinkedIn in September 2023.
