Takuto Oikawa

Rover Mechanical Engineer at Astrobotic Technology

Takuto Oikawa has extensive experience in mechanical engineering and rover development. Takuto worked as a Rover Mechanical Engineer at Astrobotic since November 2019. Prior to that, they were a Rover Development Engineer at Tohoku University from April 2014 to September 2019. At Tohoku University, they played a key role in the development of a lunar micro rover for the Google Lunar XPRIZE challenge, focusing on improving the rover's thermal performance and modeling its vehicle dynamics. Takuto also had a summer internship at IHI Aerospace in 2014. In addition, they worked as an Undergraduate Researcher at Georgia Institute of Technology from August 2011 to May 2012, conducting research on the reliability of premix ignition.

Takuto Oikawa began their education at St. John's School, where they obtained their High School Diploma from 2007 to 2009. Takuto then pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, and Astronautical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology from 2009 to 2013. Following this, they attended Tohoku University and obtained a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, and Astronautical/Space Engineering from 2014 to 2016. Takuto continued their studies at Tohoku University and completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in the field of Aerospace, Aeronautical, and Astronautical/Space Engineering from 2016 to 2019. Additionally, in October 2019, Takuto Oikawa received a certification in Neural Networks and Deep Learning from Coursera.
