Chief Software Engineer at Astronics

Doug Brown has had a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Doug began their career as a Computer Programmer/Operator at Keyway Computer Services from 1977 to 1979. Doug then worked as a Computer Programmer/Operator at Penn State University from 1981 to 1982.

Doug joined Boeing in 1982 and held various roles including Software Test Engineer, Software Design Engineer, and Lead Software Design Engineer. During their time at Boeing, they played a key role in designing real-time simulations and telemetry processing tools for Proprietary Projects.

In 1990, Doug joined Sundstrand Data Control, Inc as a Research Specialist and was later promoted to Engineering Manager. Doug oversaw the design and implementation of all applications for Sundstrand's ACARS wireless data communications products.

Doug then founded their own software consulting firm called Krell Software, where they provided System Engineering consulting services to Boeing and performed Functional Analysis for network protocols. Doug also designed avionics systems for Krell Software, including the KRELL-1000 Cabin Terminal System.

In 1994, Doug joined Krell Software, Inc as a Software Design Engineer and led a team to implement the 777 Cabin Management System Data Load function, optimizing the application's performance.

Doug joined Medtronic Physio-Control in 1995 as a Senior Project Engineer, where they led a team to design and implement software for the LifePak 500 Automated External Defibrillator.

Doug then moved to Astronics AES in 2000, where they held roles including Software/Systems Engineer, Software Team Leader, and Manager of Software Engineering. Doug managed software development activities for avionics systems installed in Commercial Passenger Aircraft and led initiatives to align software processes with industry requirements.

Doug'smost recent role was as the Chief Software Engineer at Astronics Advanced Electronic Systems, where they were responsible for all software development and certification activities. Doug also performed systems engineering and designed the software architecture for an airborne controller.

Overall, Doug Brown has extensive experience in software development, system design, and engineering management, with a focus on avionics and aerospace industries.

Doug Brown received a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Pennsylvania State University in 1982. Doug later pursued a Master's degree in Software Engineering from Seattle University, completing their studies in 1987.
