Matthijs Niks is a dedicated project coordinator currently working at Asylum Access, where responsibilities include coordinating a legal empowerment project for refugee communities across Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia, as well as building the capacity of paralegals and refugee advocates. Previously, Matthijs served as RSD Team Lead and RSD Legal Officer at Asylum Access Thailand, focusing on legal services for refugees. Prior experience includes roles as Senior Legal Advisor and Legal Advisor at St. Andrew's Refugee Services, where Matthijs provided legal guidance and supervision to caseworkers. Academic credentials include a Master's degree in International Human Rights Law from The American University in Cairo, as well as a bachelor's degree from the University of Groningen. Additional experience includes research assistantship in refugee studies and legal advisory work in migration contexts.
