Lead DevOps Engineer at Atakama

Brian Lovelace is currently the Lead DevOps Engineer at Atakama. Prior to this, they were a Software Engineer at Avirtek from September 2019 to November 2020. There, their primary function was to implement features for Avirtek's cyber-security platform and support their infrastructure in the cloud. The software ran in a secure (and reproducible!) AWS managed Kubernetes environment (EKS) with CI/CD provided by Gitlab. Brian also participated in product development and regularly acted as a mentor for the team.

As a member of a small team, Brian regularly interacted with many parts of the system. Some of the technologies that they used were: AWS, Docker Swarm, FastAPI (a lightweight python web framework - a bit like Flask), Gitlab, Kafka, Kubernetes, postgreSQL, Reactjs, sqlalchemy, Terraform.

Prior to their time at Avirtek, Brian was a Software Engineer at Lunar and Planetary Laboratory, University of Arizona from December 2016 to September 2019. There they worked on various projects related to data mining and data analysis of astronomical datasets.

Before their career in software engineering, Brian was a Teacher's Assistant for CS 345 Concepts of Discrete Data Structures at the University of Arizona Department of Computer Science from February 2016 to May 2016.

Brian's first job was as a Systems QA Analyst at Opus Inspection from April 2015 to December 2016.

Brian Lovelace has a BS in Computer Science from the University of Arizona and a degree in Computer Science from Rochester Institute of Technology.

They work with Alexander Pinkerton - Engineering Manager, Ilya Ayzenberg - Senior Software Engineer, and Chris Higley - Senior Software Engineer. Their manager is Erik Aronesty, CTO.
