Alvaro R.

Alvaro R.'s work experience begins in 2018 as a Transcatheter Heart Valve R&D Intern at Edwards Lifesciences. In this role, they collaborated with a team to improve, prototype, and test aortic transcatheter heart valves. Alvaro also gained experience in testing materials and working with clinical specialists to enhance the valves and their deployment procedure.

In 2021, Alvaro joined Dexcom as an Operations Engineering Intern. Here, they sourced materials for process development of the G7 continuous glucose monitoring systems. Alvaro also created process flows for packaging technicians and tested and documented packaging processes for certification.

Also in 2021, Alvaro took on the role of an Undergraduate Research Assistant for Morimoto Lab of Soft Surgical Robotics at the University of California, San Diego - Jacobs School of Engineering. Alvaro designed and manufactured a continuum surgical robot housing with integrated force sensor for surgical procedures. Additionally, they worked on a pneumatic continuum demultiplexor.
