Gabriela Jiménez Valerio, PhD.

Gabriela Jiménez Valerio, PhD, has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Gabriela is currently the Co-Founder, Chief Operating Officer (COO), and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at AtG Therapeutics, a role they have held since July 2021. Prior to that, they worked as a Project Manager of Tumor Angiogenesis Group - Angiotheragnostics at the Catalan Institute of Oncology from January 2016 to June 2021. In this role, they were responsible for drug discovery and research and development management, as well as negotiating contracts and agreements and conducting market research studies.

Before their time at the Catalan Institute of Oncology, Dr. Jiménez Valerio served as a Postdoctoral Researcher from January 2014 to December 2015. During this time, they played a key role in developing new methods, collecting and analyzing data, and preparing manuscripts for publication. Gabriela also worked as a PhD Student from January 2009 to December 2013, where their thesis focused on the discovery of new mechanisms of resistance to anti-angiogenic therapy in a renal cancer mouse model.

Earlier in their career, Dr. Jiménez Valerio gained experience as a Regulatory Affairs Specialist at the Instituto Nacional de Higiene Rafael Rangel from May 2007 to August 2008. In this role, they represented the organization at city and state events and meetings, developed and implemented guidelines and policies, and facilitated technology transfer and licensing.

Dr. Jiménez Valerio's work history also includes positions as a Microbiology Technician at Laboratorios Behrens, a Hospital Pharmacist at Hospital de niños Jesús María de los Ríos, a Pharmacy Intern at Farmacia La Campesina, and internships in Clinical Pharmacology and Organic Chemistry at the Facultad de Farmacia, Universidad Central de Venezuela.

Dr. Gabriela Jiménez Valerio has a diverse education history with a focus on biomedicine and pharmaceuticals. Gabriela obtained a PhD in Biomedicine from Universitat de Barcelona between 2010 and 2013, specializing in Oncology and Cancer Biology. In 2009, they completed a training course at Universitat de Barcelona on the use of experimental animals in research. Additionally, they hold a Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Industry and Medical Biotechnology from Universitat Pompeu Fabra, which they earned between 2008 and 2009.

Before pursuing their advanced degrees, Dr. Jiménez Valerio completed their undergraduate studies at the Universidad Central de Venezuela. Gabriela obtained a degree in Pharmacy in 2007, with a specialization in Microbiology and Immunology. In 2005, they also obtained a certification as a Pharmacy Assistant.

In terms of further professional development, Dr. Jiménez Valerio completed a Tech Transfer Leadership program in Life Sciences at UPF Barcelona School of Management in 2019. Gabriela also completed a Market Assessment Program in Business Administration and Management at EADA Business School during the same year. In 2020, they obtained a certification in Project Management Foundations from the Project Management Institute.
