Meagan Nashawaty joined Quest Neurology in 2014. She specializes in molecular genetic testing focusing on the areas of neurology, endocrinology, and nephrology. She provides genetic consultation and support for external clients (medical specialists, genetic counselors, geneticists, laboratories), as well as for internal departments and staff. Prior to joining Quest, Meagan was a laboratory genetic counselor at Integrated Genetics in Westborough, MA, and was instrumental in the development of the genetics department at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, OH. She has a long tenure in New England having held positions at Women and Infants Hospital in Providence, RI and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA.
She has clinical experience in prenatal, pediatric, and adult conditions, including oncology. In addition, her consultant work with the New England Regional Genetics and The Rhode Island Department of Health allowed a unique opportunity to coordinate genetic education conference projects within the region. Her interest in public speaking and marketing has enabled her to participate in educational videos on genetic counseling featured within Quest and an exhibit at the Museum of Science in Chicago, IL. Meagan earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from The University of Pittsburgh and her master’s degree in genetic counseling from the University of Pittsburgh, Graduate School of Public Health. She is board-certified by the American Board of Genetic Counselors, is a member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors, and is licensed in the state of Massachusetts.
