Herman Meerlo has extensive experience in the software development and technology field. Herman started their career in 1997 at Ericsson, where they worked as a software design engineer, specializing in DECT handsets and Bluetooth protocol development. Afterward, they joined CMG and LogicaCMG as a software engineer and system architect, respectively.

In 2004, Herman Meerlo worked as a software engineer at PTS Software, where they contributed to the porting of the combat management system Tacticos. From 2005 to 2014, they held various roles at Service2Media, including software engineer, senior software engineer, and lead architect. During this time, they developed M2Push, an internal tool that later expanded to serve third-party applications.

In 2014, Herman Meerlo co-founded FiftyTwoDegreesNorth (now 52DN), a company focused on optimizing business processes. Herman served as a senior software engineer and co-founder until 2019. Subsequently, they joined BallJames as the head of software engineering, responsible for the development team, especially the transition to Kubernetes.

From 2020 to 2022, Herman Meerlo worked at Inmotio - Ultimate Sports Performance Analysis as the head of technology, overseeing software engineering and leading technology-related initiatives. Currently, they are employed at Athom B.V. as a lead developer, a position they assumed in 2022.

Herman Meerlo completed their primary and secondary education at Ichthus college from 1987 to 1993. Herman pursued Atheneum as their field of study during this time. Afterward, from 1993 to 1997, they attended Saxion University of Applied Sciences. Here, they obtained a degree in Computer Science, namely an Ing.
