Iordanis Karagiannidis has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. From 2004 to 2007, they worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard Medical School. Following this, they joined UCLA in 2007 and held multiple positions, including Assistant Researcher and Assistant Professor, where they led a team investigating the effects of IBD on mesenteric fat physiology and function. Iordanis also served as the Director of Neuroendocrine Assay Core and later became the Associate Director at the Center for Systems Biomedicine. In 2016, they became an Associate Professor and contributed to experiments involving protein and RNA quantification. In addition, they served as the Chief Scientific Officer and VP of Animal Modeling at Athos Therapeutics Inc., starting in 2019. Currently, they continue in their role as the Chief Scientific Officer while overseeing the development and execution of scientific strategies.
Iordanis Karagiannidis holds a Ph.D in Pathology from the Boston University School of Medicine, which was obtained from 1998 to 2003. Prior to that, they earned a Master's degree in Genetics from the University of New Hampshire between 1995 and 1997. Their undergraduate studies were completed at Plymouth State University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in Biology, General from 1992 to 1994.
