Noah Philips

Noah Philips has extensive experience in the field of metallurgy and materials research. Noah worked at ATI Specialty Alloys and Components, starting in 2013 as a Research Metallurgist, where they led the development of powder feedstocks and additive manufacturing capability for reactive and refractory alloys. Noah also provided process development and production support for the aluminothermic reduction of Niobium, and initiated and demonstrated new processes for specialty alloy production. In 2016, they were promoted to the role of Principal Metallurgist, where they continued their work on alloy development. In 2019, they became a Senior Principal Research Engineer at the same company, working on the development and production of reactive and refractory alloys.

Noah also has academic experience, serving as a Courtesy Faculty member at Oregon State University since 2019. Prior to that, they were a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of California from 2008 to 2012, where they focused on research in the mechanical behavior of materials and the design and fabrication of experimental facilities and instrumentation.

Earlier in their career, Noah worked as a Consultant at Ceramic Metal Composites in 2009, a Graduate Student at UCSB from 2003 to 2008, and as an Intern at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in 2002.

Noah Philips has a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Harvey Mudd College (1999-2003). Noah also holds a PhD in Materials from UC Santa Barbara (2003-2008).
