Matt Rowles

Matt Rowles is the current Technical Director at the Atlanta Film Festival. Matt has over 20 years of experience in the field of audio and video engineering. Matt started their career at The Coca-Cola Company in 1997 as a Systems Engineer. In this role, they were responsible for managing repair, maintenance and operational support and consultation for on-site analog/digital linear and non-linear editing suites, field production equipment, duplication center and conference rooms. Matt also developed and maintained shared relational databases for asset and maintenance tracking.

In 2000, Matt left The Coca-Cola Company to join Georgia State University as an audio and video engineer. In this role, they were responsible for providing audio and video engineering, production, and technical support for on and offsite strategic company events, including projection, graphics, and recording multiple live switched cameras. Matt also negotiated and managed execution of vendor contracts for equipment and/or services.

In their current role as Technical Director at the Atlanta Film Festival, Matt is responsible for overseeing all technical aspects of the festival. This includes everything from setting up and operating audio and visual equipment to troubleshooting any issues that may arise during the event. Matt is also responsible for training and supervising junior level technicians.

Matt Rowles has a Master's degree in Music Technology from Southern Utah University, a Bachelor of Arts in Film/Cinema/Video Studies and Music Minor from Georgia State University, an AA in Recording Arts from Full Sail University, and a BA in Music Performance from Appalachian State University. Matt also has a high school degree from C. E. Jordan High in Film/Cinema/Video Studies and Music Minor. Matt is certified by InfoComm International as a Certified Technology Specialist-Design and by lynda.com as a Music Production Secrets: Larry Crane on Mixing.

They work with Jamelah Neal - Box Office Manager, Ceci Leon - Operations Manager, and Chynna Edwards - Volunteer Coordinator. Matt Rowles reports to Kimberly Klabel, Operations Director.
