Chimiya Turner-Smith is an experienced educator with a comprehensive background in literacy and English Language Arts, currently serving as the 6-12 Literacy Coordinator at Atlanta Public Schools since June 2014. Previous roles at Atlanta Public Schools include English/Language Arts Specialist, Instructional Coach, and English Teacher, where responsibilities included department chair and gifted lead. Before joining Atlanta Public Schools, Chimiya held the position of Professional Educator at Clayton County Public Schools from August 2006 to May 2014. Chimiya has attained multiple degrees including a Specialist in English Education from Kennesaw State University, an Educational Specialist degree in Leadership and Administration from Columbus State University, a Master of Science in English/Language Arts Education from Troy University, and a Bachelor of Arts in English/Language Arts Teacher Education from Georgia State University.
