Ben Hertz-Shargel

Nonresident Senior Fellow, Global Energy Center at ATLANTIC COUNCIL OF THE UNITED STATES

Ben Hertz-Shargel is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in energy and mathematics. Currently serving as a member of the Advisory Committee for the DER Policy Initiative at The Pew Charitable Trusts and as the Global Head of Grid Edge at Wood Mackenzie, Ben oversees areas such as transportation and building electrification, demand response, and utility digitalization. As a Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council's Global Energy Center, Ben focuses on decarbonization and power market reform. Additional roles include membership on the external Advisory Committee for the Energy and Environment Program at the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and previous leadership positions at Rhythm and EnergyHub, where Ben advanced grid services and analytics. Ben's early career included quantitative roles at Credit Suisse and research at Icosystem and the New England Complex Systems Institute. Ben holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from UCLA and has degrees from NYU and Northwestern University.
