Josh Lipsky

Chair, International Economics at ATLANTIC COUNCIL OF THE UNITED STATES

Josh Lipsky serves as the Senior Director of the GeoEconomics Center at the Atlantic Council since March 2020. Lipsky has been a Fellow at Harvard's Belfer Center for the Economic Diplomacy Initiative since October 2019 and has held a Term Membership with the Council on Foreign Relations since June 2018. Prior experience includes positions as Speechwriter and Advisor to International Monetary Fund Managing Director Christine Lagarde from March 2017 to March 2020 and as Special Advisor to the U.S. Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy, Richard Stengel, from October 2015 to January 2017. Earlier roles include Associate Director of Press Advance at The White House and various positions in political and media organizations, including Obama for America and CNN. Josh Lipsky holds a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center, a Master of Public Administration from Harvard Kennedy School, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Columbia University.
