Helen's interest in wine growing started far from the vineyard. After many years of working in the restaurant industry, she pursued her B.S. in Plant Sciences at UC Santa Cruz followed by an A.S. in Viticulture at Las Positas College in Livermore. While in school, she began working in all entities of the winery. From an inaugural harvest at St. Francis Winery & Vineyards in Sonoma to a stint in southern Oregon with Elkton Vineyard Management, and an eight-year stay at Bonny Doon Vineyard in Santa Cruz, she has become well versed within the 3-tier system from sales and distribution to production.
While working in each department has given her a strong and versatile skill set to mobilize within the wine industry, the simple satisfaction of working outdoors has always put vineyards above the rest.
Joining the Atlas team in January 2019 as the Central Coast Vineyard Manager, Helen strives to bring enthusiasm to the workplace, dedication to the client's vision, knowledge of site-specific needs, unconventional experience, and a boots-in-the-vineyard approach to management and wine growing.
