Joe Hallock is an accomplished design leader with extensive experience in technology and product design. Currently serving as VP and Head of Design at Atlassian since March 2025, Joe previously held various senior roles at Microsoft from March 2007 to March 2025, including Partner Director, Design and Research for Microsoft Azure. Joe's expertise encompasses overseeing design systems, user research, and inclusive design programs for Azure's product suite, as well as leading design initiatives for Windows + Devices and Cloud + Enterprise. Prior to Microsoft, Joe co-founded Orange Cable Corporation, a startup in the infrastructure-as-a-service space, and held significant positions at Geospiza and Amazon. Joe earned a Master of Communication in Digital Media and a BA in Communications/New Media from the University of Washington.
