Adam Friss

Adam Friss is an experienced optical engineer currently serving as a Senior Optical Engineer at Atom Computing since November 2024. Prior to this role, Adam held senior and optical engineer positions at Infleqtion from April 2022 to October 2024, and worked at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) as a National Research Council Postdoctoral Research Associate from September 2020 to March 2022. Throughout their career, Adam has contributed to significant projects, including the development of analytical methods for exhaled breath characterization and the redesign of vapor sampling instruments. Adam's academic background includes a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Colorado State University, where tenure as a Graduate Research Assistant focused on the development of diagnostic techniques for sensitive measurements. Additional experience includes work as a Visiting Technologist at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory and a fellowship at Sandia National Laboratories, alongside various roles in research and student management during academic pursuits at Colorado State University.
