Atom Computing
Mickey McDonald has worked at Atom Computing since 2019, where they have held the roles of Principal Quantum Engineer, Senior Quantum Engineer, and Quantum Engineer. In 2019, they also designed and launched the game Brave New Worlds: A Race for Discovery! on Kickstarter, which successfully funded on May 16, 2019. Prior to Atom Computing, Mickey held the role of Postdoctoral Scholar in Physics at the University of Chicago from 2016-2019. From 2010-2016, they were a Graduate Researcher in AMO Physics and NSF IGERT Fellowship at Columbia University in the City of New York. Mickey was an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Cornell University from 2008-2009, and held an NSF Research Experience for Undergraduates at the University of Notre Dame in 2009.
Mickey McDonald received their Bachelor of Arts in Physics from Cornell University in 2010. Mickey then continued their studies at Columbia University, where they earned a Master of Philosophy in 2013 and a Doctor of Philosophy in Atomic/Molecular Physics in 2016.
