Ian Astalosh

Ian Astalosh has a diverse work experience starting from 2012, when they worked as a Sales Assistant at Kmart Australia Limited. Ian'sresponsibilities included stock replenishment, customer interaction, and store presentation.

In 2015, they joined Atomi Education as a Senior Content Creator, where they produced content for Advanced Mathematics, Extension 1 Mathematics, and Extension 2 Mathematics in the HSC. Atomi Education is an E-learning start-up that aims to make high school easier for students through interactive video courses.

In 2018, Ian worked as a Quantitative Analyst Intern at Tabcorp. Ian gained experience in this role for three months before moving on to become a full-time Quant Analyst in 2019. At Tabcorp, Ian developed and maintained predictive models using R and Python, which were used to derive probabilities and set wagering prices. Ian utilized supervised learning methods such as logistic regression and gradient boosted trees, as well as Monte Carlo simulations, in order to estimate probabilities in complex environments. Ian also created dashboards using Shiny to convey model results and support traders.

Ian Astalosh completed their Bachelor of Science (Advanced) (Honours) degree with a focus on Applied Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Sydney from 2015 to 2018. Ian also participated in a Bilateral Exchange program at Louisiana State University in 2017, where they studied Mathematics and Statistics.
