Raphael Townshend is the Founder & CEO of Atomic AI, a company focused on developing the fusion of machine learning and structural biology for RNA drug discovery. Raphael has also worked as a PHD Student at Stanford University, leading a research group at the intersection of machine learning and structural biology. Additionally, they served as the Head TA for Stanford's machine learning course. Raphael has experience as a Research Scientist Intern at DeepMind, an Inference Intern at Scaled Inference, and a Software Engineering Intern at Google. Raphael has also worked as a Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant at UC Berkeley, where they applied computer vision and machine learning techniques and led discussions and laboratory sections for computer architecture courses. Furthermore, Raphael has served as a Root Staff Member and Director at the Open Computing Facility in Berkeley, responsible for maintaining a computing facility for the campus community. Raphael has also held positions as a Graphics Intern at Hewlett-Packard and an iPhone Application Developer at Manifold Studios. Raphael's previous experience also includes volunteering as a Reading Tutor at Reading Partners, where they helped improve the reading skills of 1st to 5th graders.
Raphael Townshend obtained a High School Diploma from Menlo School from 2008 to 2010. Raphael then pursued their Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley, starting in 2010 and completing it in 2014. Raphael further expanded their knowledge by pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computer Science at Stanford University, from 2014 to 2020.
