The role

The Maintenance Manager is primarily responsible for managing current aircraft maintenance and repair operations, implementing actions and procedures to accomplish aircraft maintenance objectives and scheduling. Supervises a team of A&P Mechanics, Apprentices, and Line Service Technicians. May also complete A&P Mechanic duties performing routine maintenance, and repairs on piston flight training aircraft in accordance with applicable regulations, manufacturers’ instructions, and company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors and oversees all aircraft maintenance and repair operations to ensure timely completion of maintenance schedule on various aircraft.
  • Works with Parts personnel, Aircraft Maintenance Controllers, and other staff to determine upcoming labor, parts and supply needs to adequately maintain and service assigned aircraft.
  • Ensures that all maintenance activities comply with FAA regulations, manufacturers’ specifications and company policy.
  • Ensure that tools, equipment, parts and other supplies are in proper working condition, in accordance with safety and operating standards.
  • Completes and/or assigns maintenance activities to maximize efficiency and minimize work hours and errors.
  • May perform skilled manual and technical work to complete general maintenance service on aircraft and engines to ensure airworthiness, as needed.
  • Reads maintenance manuals, instructions and safety information to properly identify and locate components on the aircraft and accurately implement instructions listed in maintenance manuals.
  • Manages and oversees completion of required documentation, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Prepares reports and correspondence relative to facility’s maintenance operations, status, and costs.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic License.
  • Five (5) years general aviation maintenance experience with specific expertise troubleshooting, inspection and maintenance of power plant systems, lubrication systems, intake and exhaust system, electrical and instruments systems, propellers on piston powered training aircraft.
  • One (1) year prior team leadership or supervisory experience required.
  • FAA Inspection Authorization.
