Elena de-la-Peña

Elena De-la-Peña serves as Subdirector General Técnico at the Asociación Española de la Carretera (AEC) since September 2000, focusing on technical research projects in road infrastructure across Spain, the European Union, and Latin America. Additional roles include Coordinator of the Foro Español de Smart Roads and Secretary of several road management forums, as well as Director of the innovative CITIES Timanfaya project. Involvement extends to the European Commission as an independent expert evaluating Horizon 2020 proposals and as Rapporteur for the STRIA Roadmap on Transport Infrastructure. Elena is actively engaged in multiple organizations, such as ATRESMEDIA, Smart Transportation Alliance, and the European Union Road Federation. Academia is also a priority, with teaching positions at the University of Valencia, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, and CIFAL Madrid RACE. An accomplished scholar, Elena holds advanced degrees in engineering and road safety from prestigious institutions and frequently contributes to international road safety conferences.
