Chief, Acute Care Surgery For Atrium Health And Professor Of Surgery Unc-charlotte Campus at Atrium Health

Addison May has a strong background in the field of surgery and medicine. They started their career in 1988 as a Resident Physician and Research Fellow at the University of Virginia Health System. After completing their residency, they worked as a Fellow in Traumatology and Surgical Critical Care at the University of Pennsylvania from 1995 to 1997. They then moved on to become an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham from 1997 to 2001. After that, they joined Vanderbilt University Medical Center where they held the position of Ingram Chair in Surgical Sciences, Professor of Surgery and Anesthesiology from 2001 to 2018. Currently, Addison May works as the Chief of Acute Care Surgery for Atrium Health and is also a Professor of Surgery at the UNC-Charlotte Campus.

Addison May obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of Virginia, graduating in 1982. Addison then pursued their medical education at the Medical University of South Carolina, earning a Doctor of Medicine degree between 1984 and 1988. Later on, Addison pursued further education in business, completing a Master of Business Administration at Auburn University Harbert College of Business from 2016 to 2018.
