Floyd Backes

Floyd Backes has extensive work experience in various leadership roles. Floyd served as the Vice President Global Operations at ATS Scientific Products starting in 2023. Prior to that, they were the Chief Operating Officer at Synagro from 2022 to 2023, where they focused on improving operational performance, forecast accuracy, and safety. From 2020 to 2021, Backes worked as the Vice President Operations at Schneider Packaging Equipment Co., Inc., where they implemented project-based value streams and improved supply chain flexibility. Before that, they served as the VP Global Operations at PPC Broadband, Inc. - A Belden Brand from 2016 to 2020, successfully implementing lean daily management and creating a safety-first culture. From 2012 to 2016, they were the Director of Operations at Davis-Standard, driving global Lean implementation and operational excellence. Backes started their career at GE as a Lean Leader/Master Black Belt from 2007 to 2012. Floyd also has experience as a Production Manager at Welch Allyn, a Process Engineering Manager at Knorr-Bremse, a Production Foreman/Manufacturing Engineer at United Technologies, and an ASME Quality Control Manager at Lennox International.

Floyd Backes has a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. Floyd also holds a certification as a Black Belt in Lean, Six Sigma, Problem Solving, and Statistics from GE Aviation. Floyd completed an Advanced Manager's Course in Management at the GE Crotonville Executive Training Campus. Floyd Backes has a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in Business Administration and Management, General from the State University of New York at Oswego. Additionally, they obtained a certification as a Certified Master Black Belt (MBB) from GE in 2008. Floyd also has a certification as an Aircraft Certified Machinist and Welder in Metals Technology from US DOD Technical Training.
