Thomas Niven has a diverse work experience that spans across various industries. Currently, they are the Managing Director of Professional and Financial Services at Attensi, starting in November 2023. Prior to this, they served as the UK Head of Industry and Professional Services at Attensi from October 2022 to November 2023. Thomas also worked as a Business Development Director at Attensi from February 2021 to October 2022.
Before joining Attensi, Thomas worked at BTS, starting in 2016. During their time there, they held multiple roles including Associate Director, Senior Consultant, Consultant, and Business Analyst. Thomas traveled to 20 different countries and facilitated experiences for senior managers and executives across various sectors. Thomas developed a passion for empowering leaders and helping them turn business strategy into tangible actions.
Thomas also gained research experience during their time at CEDAR, where they worked as a Graduate Research Student in 2015. Thomas conducted a field research trip to North East India and incorporated actual budgets, logistics, and methodologies into their research on the sustainability of water provision in the region.
Additionally, Thomas worked as a Research Consultant at CAWST from January 2015 to March 2015, where they conducted research and gave recommendations on mobile technologies for monitoring and evaluating Water and Sanitation Hygiene stations in Africa.
Before pursuing their career in consulting and research, Thomas worked at The Hotel Jerome as a Bellman from December 2013 to March 2014, providing exceptional guest service and assistance in a ski hotel.
Thomas also gained project-based work experience as an Engineering Assistant at SAB Miller Ltd in 2012. Thomas was involved in a range of projects, including a Health & Safety bee deterrent project and a community project for supplying fresh drinking water in Cape Town.
Additionally, Thomas worked as an Engineering Intern at Clinkscales Maughan Brown in 2011, gaining early experience in the engineering industry.
Thomas Niven obtained a Master's Degree in Engineering for Sustainable Development from the University of Cambridge in 2015. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Cape Town from 2010 to 2013. Their education journey began with completing high school at St. Andrews College in Grahamstown, South Africa, from 2006 to 2009.
