Vanessa Tan has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Vanessa began their career as a Web Designer at Project Eyeball, Singapore Press Holdings, where they also contributed to writing articles and shooting and editing videos. Vanessa then worked as a Web Technology Advisor at Fynch Consulting, providing web technology advice and conducting training on web standards. Vanessa later joined the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore as an Assistant Manager, focusing on industry development and grant applications for IT product development. At the Health Promotion Board, Vanessa held various positions, including Manager of Strategic Planning & Collaborations, Manager of the Health Ambassador Network, and Deputy Director of Health Ambassador Network Management and Innovation & Design. Their responsibilities included formulating strategies, managing budgets, and promoting thought leadership in health promotion. Most recently, Vanessa has been working at the Attorney-General's Chambers in Singapore as a Deputy Director of Strategy & Transformation and later as a Deputy Director of Strategy, Transformation & Organisation Development. In these roles, they lead transformation efforts, facilitates discussions among stakeholders, and manages change in business process review initiatives.

Vanessa Tan holds an MBA degree in Business from INSEAD, which they obtained from 2008 to 2009. Prior to that, they completed their LLB degree in Law (Hons) at the University of Bristol from 1997 to 2000. Additionally, they have obtained various certifications, including the Prosci® Certified Change Practitioner from Prosci, the Organization Development Certificate from NTL Institute, and the Certificate in Public Participation from the International Association of Public Participation (IAP2).

The Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) is led by the Attorney-General (AG), who serves as the legal adviser to the Government and is the Public Prosecutor.
