Alison Barber

Alison Barber has a diverse work experience spanning over 20 years. Alison started their career as an Assistant Type IV at the University of California, San Diego in 2000, where they worked until 2001. Alison then moved on to the University of Cambridge, where they served as a Type IV Senior Laboratory Research Technician from 2001 to 2003. Following this, they pursued their doctoral studies as a Graduate Student at Columbia University from 2003 to 2011, specializing in the examination of cell-cell adhesion in the progression of prostate cancer.

In 2015, Alison joined UC San Diego as a Postdoctoral Fellow, focusing on examining the role of stem cell signaling in lung cancer. Their research involved generating genetically engineered mouse models of lung cancer and developing mouse lung cancer cell lines and patient-derived xenografts. Alison also investigated the effects of epigenetic silencing of stem cell fate determinant Musashi in lung tumor initiation and progression.

Currently, Alison is working at aTyr Pharma as a Scientist. Alison started as a Scientist I in June 2020 and was promoted to Scientist II in July 2021. This is their most recent position, and the details for their current role are not provided.

Alison Barber completed their education in two institutions.
