Derek Zhang

Derek Zhang is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in computer vision and analytics, currently serving as the Computer Vision Manager at Auckland Transport since May 2016. In this role, Derek leads the technical development of video analytics products within the Smart City operations, managing a development team and overseeing the delivery and support of solutions. Derek's expertise in CCTV analytics was previously demonstrated as the Senior Technical Analyst and team lead at Auckland Transport, where high-quality analytics were delivered for various transportation sectors. Additionally, Derek is the founder of Deep Vision Limited, offering consulting services in artificial intelligence and related fields since April 2018. Prior experience includes a position as Senior Software Engineer at the Information Research Institute of Shandong Academy of Sciences, leading software development for intelligent transportation systems, and a role as a software engineer at China Academy of Aerospace Standardization and Product Assurance. Derek holds a Doctor of Engineering degree and a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Shandong University.
