John Collins is an accomplished academic and medical professional with extensive experience in surgery and medical education. Currently serving as an Honorary Professorial Fellow in the University Department of Surgery at the University of Melbourne since 2004, Collins also holds positions as a Visiting Research Professor at the University of Oxford and as a Member of the Board of the Foundation for Surgery at the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. As President of the Auckland Medical History Society and an Official Guide at the Auckland War Memorial Museum, Collins actively engages in historical research and public education. Additionally, Collins held roles as a Visiting Professor in multiple esteemed institutions and played a key role in the UK Foundation Programme review. Academic qualifications include a Doctor of Philosophy in History from the University of Auckland, alongside medical degrees from the University of Galway.
