Cesar Lamschtein

Cesar Lamschtein was born in Montevideo Uruguay in 1973. He is married and father of 2 fantastic children. His passion for audio and music started at the early age of 11.

He decided to turn his passion into a career by getting his degree in audiovisual techniques in France in early 1990's. The 90's were a great time to learn audio: the last analog days and the first digital/tape days, prior to DAW based studio and digital live consoles/processors. he could witness on his own the change of paradigm.

After getting back to Uruguay, he worked as staff engineer in several studios, getting involved in music, theater and film productions, as well as live sound mixing and live recording. After getting confidence, he started freelancing, as well as consulting and teaching.

He got to collaborate in productions with all major local artists, as well as international performers like Joe Satriani, Bajo Fondo, The Mission, Placido Domingo, José Carreras, Kitaro, Suzanne Ciani, Caetano Veloso, Djavan, among many others.

He has more than 19 years of audio techniques and technologies teaching experience. ORT university gave him the teaching excellence award in 2010. He is regularly called to lecture in audio technology events and schools.

In 2012, After designing, installing, and starting up the first word class recording studio in Uruguay, he was called to lead the audio and video department of the National Concert Hall, Uruguay finest and biggest venue.

He continues to improve his skills and getting up to date as much as possible, attending to masterclasses (Bruce Swedien, Bob Mc Carthy, Allan Parsons, among others), workshops and of course attending the AES latin American conferences and AES conventions.

He joined the AES in 1996 as a founding member of the Uruguayan section. He was previously "touched" by Albert Grundby in the 1995 AES Paris convention and got convinced that AES is the way of sharing experiences and getting as better as you can. He is a proud and active member of the society promoting student activities, student recording competitions, organizing seminars, meetings, events, conferences through almost 20 years. He was given the AES board of governors award in 2012 for chairing the 2011 Latin American Conference in Montevideo, Uruguay and the AES Citation Award in recognition of outstanding commitment to audio education in Latin America in 2015. He shares his knowledge and experience, as a guest speaker, in tutorials, speeches, workshops as well as panels in Uruguay, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, France and Los Angeles.

He's main professional projects as of today are to set up the foundation for getting the national concert hall events available live to audiences within the whole country through the building of a digital HD streaming network of satellite relayed venues, to rise de level of classical music production in Uruguay thru constant work with the national symphonic orchestra and to develop an online music mixing and mastering platform with fellow engineers from south america.

He is fluent in 4 languages, Spanish, French, English and Portuguese.
