August Crossing is a women-led healthcare innovation initiative developing a first-of-its-kind model for advanced pediatric palliative care and pediatric inpatient hospice in Texas. The project is designed to fundamentally reimagine how children with serious illness and their families experience care by integrating medicine, innovation, education, policy reform, therapeutic design, and family-centered support into one comprehensive ecosystem.

The initiative includes the development of a highly specialized pediatric inpatient hospice campus featuring home-like residential care environments intentionally designed around dignity, accessibility, peace, and emotional healing. 

Beyond direct patient care, August Crossing is being designed as a center for innovation and education focused on advancing the future of pediatric palliative medicine. The project includes plans for workforce training, clinical education, telehealth expansion, interdisciplinary collaboration, caregiver support programming, bereavement services, and community-based resources that extend far beyond the walls of the facility itself.

A major component of the initiative is statewide policy advocacy aimed at creating legislative and licensure pathways for pediatric inpatient hospice care in Texas — helping address significant gaps in access for medically complex children and families across the state, including underserved and rural communities.

August Crossing also seeks to serve as a national demonstration model for how healthcare environments can better integrate compassionate care, advanced technology, family experience, research, and holistic support systems. By combining healthcare innovation with deeply human-centered design.
