Dan Lawler

Creative Director at August Jackson

Dan creates meaningful shared experiences that connect heads to hearts. He gets curious about how clients talk about their goals/missions/obstacles and helps amplify their stories. He’s been a creative leader at some of the country’s top universities, agencies, and arts education programs and is a trained musician and actor.

Dan has sung at Carnegie Hall, shown up on the cover of the New York Times Theatre section, and bounced around at kids’ birthday parties as Peter Pan (free pizza!). He’s written scripts and music for corporate meetings, both huge and tiny. One of his proudest moments was helping convince 500 sales team members to learn, laugh and sweat in an epic game in the Arizona desert.

As a voice teacher, Dan has trained Broadway folk, opera folk, corporate executives, and NYC’s top shower singers.

He’s constantly scouting for joy and inspiration and loves showing clients where to find it.

Dan has over 15 years of experience, getting his start as an actor and singer in Off-Broadway productions in New York and regional theaters. He then joined the Music faculty of NYU, where he spent 8 years training undergraduates in Vocal Performance and Music Education. While at NYU, Dan also produced dozens of musical theater and opera productions and provided creative direction for some of the university’s most high-profile events.

Always on an adventure, he then packed up his creative toolbox and moved into the agency world, as Associate Creative Director of an NYC Events and Communications agency. Highlight there: Developing and landing a $1 contract within his first couple of months.

When Covid hit, Dan saw the need to help others in the arts field, co-founding The Catapult Project, a nonprofit that empowers performing artists to build digital businesses. He maintains his involvement to this day as a Creative Strategist.

In April 2021, Dan found his new home at AJ, lending his wide range of expertise to bringing client stories to life as a Creative Director. He looks forward to being an inspiring and compassionate advisor for clients.
