Joe Parr

Joe Parr has a strong background in horticulture and landscape management. Joe currently holds the position of Director of Horticulture at Augusta National Golf Club since 2022. Prior to that, they worked as the Superintendent of Parks for the City of Largo from 2021 to 2023. Joe also served as the Director of Horticulture at Flamingo Gardens Tropical Botanical Gardens from 2019 to 2022. Joe has experience as a Horticulture Manager and Landscape Consultant, working independently from 2017 to 2019. Earlier in their career, Joe held the position of Director of Horticulture at SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment (formerly Busch Entertainment Corporation) from 2009 to 2017. Joe started their career as a Horticulture Project Manager at OneSource Landscape and Golf Services from 1995 to 2009.

Joe Parr has a Bachelor of Science degree in Horticultural Science and Landscape Design from Virginia Tech. Joe also completed an internship in historic gardens management and preservation at the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. In addition to their degree, they hold certifications such as Certified-Florida Green Industries Best Management Practices from the University of Florida/IFAS and Certified Horticulturalist from The Walt Disney Company. Joe is also certified as a Landscape Designer by the Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD) Virginia (VSLD) and as a Nurseryman by the American Nurserman's Association. Joe has some coursework in Biology/Biological Sciences from Radford University, although it is unclear if they obtained a degree in that field.
