Provost And Vice President Of Academic Affairs, Professor Of Anthropology at Augustana College

Dianna Shandy is a seasoned academic leader, currently serving as Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs and Professor of Anthropology at Augustana College since July 2023. Previously, Shandy held a long-term appointment at Macalester College, progressing from Professor of Anthropology to various key administrative roles, including Associate Provost and Special Assistant to the President for Strategic Planning. Shandy's extensive experience includes a tenure as Scholar-in-Residence at Elon University, participation in the American Council on Education Fellowship, and an Executive Leadership Fellowship at the University of Minnesota. Shandy's research focuses on anthropology, gender, migration, and social inequality, complemented by roles at the University of Cape Town and work with UNHCR. Educational credentials include a PhD, M.Phil, and MA in Anthropology from Columbia University and a B.S. in Languages from Georgetown University, along with experience in an international exchange program in West Africa.
