Barbara Ferry

Barbara Ferry has 16 years of work experience in the field of clinical research and operations. Barbara is currently employed at Aura Biosciences as a Sr. Clinical Trial Associate, where they provide support to the Clinical Operations team and manages clinical trial conduct. Prior to this, Barbara worked as a Clinical Trial Associate at Aura Biosciences, where they developed and implemented clinical processes.

Before joining Aura Biosciences, Barbara served as an independent consultant to various organizations, including the University of Chicago and Oak Dermatology. Their responsibilities as a consultant involved driving simultaneous projects, defining standard operating procedures (SOPs), research protocols, and optimizing processes. Additionally, they worked at the Institute for Translational Medicine at the University of Chicago, where they identified training needs for research roles related to clinical and translational research areas.

Barbara's previous experience includes working as the Director of Research at Advocate Health Care's Russell Institute for Research & Innovation. In this role, they guided the development of innovative research initiatives, including patient-centered outcomes research, clinical trials research, and translational science research.

Barbara's earliest work experience was at Northwestern University, where they held multiple positions of increasing responsibility and scope. Barbara began as a Clinical Research Coordinator in the Rheumatology department and eventually became a Clinical Research Programs Manager, overseeing regulatory and recruitment. In addition, they served as a Clinical Research Navigator, Special Projects Manager, and University Administrator. Barbara's responsibilities at Northwestern University also involved being an Investigator Advocate and an Education and Training Program Educator for Clinical Research Coordinator Training. Throughout their time at Northwestern University, they successfully led cross-functional teams through audits, documentation, correction, and response processes, as well as handling various administrative tasks such as PI transfers, grant transfers, legal proceedings, and FDA audits.

Barbara Ferry pursued their education at Northwestern University from 2007 to 2011, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications. In August 2022, they also received a certification in Biomedical Research - Basic/Refresher from the CITI Program.
