Deanna Burkett has seven years of work experience. Deanna began their career in 2010 as an Outreach Coordinator and Stress Free Zone Coordinator at the University of Pittsburgh. In 2013, they served as a Consultant for the University of Pittsburgh School of Education's ATP Planning Team. In 2014, they were a Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Teacher at the UMPC Center for Integrative Medicine in Shadyside. From 2015 to 2021, they held multiple roles, including Mindfulness and Meditation Teacher at Carnegie Mellon University and eMindful Inc, as well as an Aura App - Guided Meditation Developer at Aura Health Inc. Currently, they are a Counselor at Northwest Family Services, Inc.
Deanna Burkett has a diverse educational background. Deanna obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Secondary Education, Language Arts from the University of South Alabama in 1996. Deanna then went on to obtain a Master of Arts (M.A.) in English, Creative Writing from the same university in 2005. In 2009, they completed their Master of Science (M.S.) in Community Counseling from the University of South Alabama. Additionally, Burkett has obtained various certifications, such as a Certified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Teacher from the Brown University School of Public Health - Brown Mindfulness Center in 2020, a Kripalu Yoga Teacher, 200-Hour from the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health in 2007, and a Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL); 4-week, 120-Hour Intensive from Via Lingua International - Guadalajara, Mexico in 2002.
