Waning Chua

Waning Chua is an accomplished professional in the energy and sustainability sectors, currently serving as the Energy Industry Leader and Director of Sustainability & Climate Change at Aurecon since March 2023. Previously, Waning held the role of Strategy Lead at the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority, focusing on strategic development for clean energy use in New Zealand. Waning's experience includes commercial management at Trade Me, where oversight of teams and data analysis was key, and significant roles at Z Energy NZ that involved leadership in corporate strategy, health and safety, and risk management. Additionally, experience at KPMG and Audit New Zealand provided strong foundations in risk-based audits and governance within the public sector. Waning holds a CA designation from Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and a BCom DipGrad in Accounting from the University of Otago.
