Associate Research Director, Cell And Molecular Biology at Aurigene Discovery Technologies

Leena Khare has a diverse work experience in the field of scientific research. Leena started their career as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Fox Chase Cancer Center in 1998. Leena then joined Nicholas Piramal India Ltd in 2001, where they worked as a Senior Scientist and Project Leader, focusing on the identification of genetic factors associated with Diabetes Mellitus Type 2. At Nicholas Piramal, they also played a role in setting up the division and establishing collaborations with hospitals and physicians for research projects.

In 2006, Leena joined Aurigene Discovery Technologies as a Senior Scientist and later became a Principal Scientist. During their time at Aurigene, they played key roles in oncology drug discovery programs and led research teams. Some of their accomplishments include leading two oncology drug discovery programs that received IND approval from the US FDA for clinical trials and outlicensing the programs to a biotechnology company. Leena was also involved in evaluating and selecting novel targets for research programs and participated in out-licensing activities.

Leena Khare completed their education with a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology from the University of Lucknow. Following their undergraduate studies, Leena pursued a Master's Degree in Biotechnology from The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. After this, they enrolled at The Ohio State University, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Pathology.
