Jeffrey Altman has over 40 years of work experience in the software and consulting industry. Jeffrey began their career in 1979 as a sales staff member at Little Professor and Great Neck Books. In 1992, they joined Seer Technologies as a Software Developer. In 1995, they started working at Columbia University as a Kermit Developer. In 2001, they became the CTO at IAM Consulting, Inc., a leading New York based Java training and consulting company. In 2004, they founded Secure Endpoints Inc., a corporation registered in the State of New York that provides expert consulting and software development services. In 2007, they founded AuriStor, Inc. (formerly Your File System, Inc.), a company that has developed the AuriStor File System, a multi-level secure global file service. In 2009, they became a Manager and Contributor at Heimdal Kerberos. In 2020, they were appointed to the Governing Board Member of the Open Source Security Foundation (OpenSSF). Jeffrey is also a Gatekeeper and Elder Emeritus at OpenAFS and a Core Team Member at MIT Kerberos.
Jeffrey Altman began their educational journey in 1984 when they enrolled at Stony Brook University to pursue a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science. Jeffrey completed their degree in 1991 and then continued their studies at the same institution to obtain a Master of Science in Computer Science, which they achieved in 1993. In 1995, Jeffrey Altman began a PhD in Computer Science at Columbia Engineering, but did not complete it.
